Cree (LLF) LR4 11 watt LED recessed light kit. This kit consists of three parts: 1) an IC Airtight (California Title 24 approved) new construction 4" housing, 2) LED light engine (bulb) 3) Trim.The Cree LR4 is far more efficient than fluorescent lights and contains no Mercury. In addition, it can be dimmed with an electronic low voltage dimmer and will last 50,000 hours. That's over 25 years of use.
Two color temperatures are available- Warm White (2700k) and Cool White (3500k). Warm White tends to be a better choice for residential applications. The light provides a nice, relaxing color to the room.
Cool white tends to be used for more commercial applications. Although our experience has been 100% of our LED sales have been the warm white color.
Just as important, the color rendering (CRI) of the bulb is extremely high- 95 for warm white and 91 for cool white. The closer to 100 the rating, the more natural your room (granite, art, rugs, wood, etc.) will look. That is why items (and you) tend to look bad under fluorescent bulbs. The CRI of normal fluorescent bulbs is usually very low.
There is an active color maintenance sensor in this fixtures. During the life of the bulb it constantly measures the color output of the fixture. If the color fluctuates, the sensor will automatically adjust the LEDs in the unit to bring it back to the original color temperature. So even 20 years from now it will be the exact same color temperature as the day you first turned it on.
Another nice feature is that you cannot see the individual LED elements. The proprietary optical system diffuses the LED to produce a very even, non glaring light.
The bottom of the trim is always white. The baffle rising into the ceiling is stocked in brushed nickel and white. Other colors are available. Please call for more information. Hint- brushed nickel seems to be the winner.
